Pursuing Dreams from Afar: A Mother's Journey to Empower Her Children

September 12, 2024 0 Comments

When I made the life-altering decision to move to Dubai and work as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), I embarked on a journey driven by a profound sense of purpose and responsibility. The distance between me and my children, though challenging, has only strengthened my resolve to provide them with opportunities I never had in my own childhood. This journey is not merely about securing a better financial future; it is about becoming a source of inspiration and a role model for my daughters.

Growing up, I faced numerous hardships and lacked many of the comforts and opportunities that many take for granted. My experiences taught me resilience and the value of hard work, but they also ignited a deep desire to ensure that my children would have a different path—one filled with opportunities and possibilities that I could only dream of. By coming to Dubai, I am not only working to provide for my family but also to create a legacy of perseverance and success.

The aspiration to offer my children a better life is at the heart of my decision to pursue further education. I have set a goal to obtain a degree, an achievement that I believe will not only enhance my professional prospects but also serve as a powerful example for my daughters. I want them to witness firsthand the dedication and effort required to achieve one's goals, regardless of the obstacles. In my view, education is not just a personal accomplishment but a beacon of hope and inspiration for those who look up to me.

Despite the physical distance, my aim is to bridge the gap through the strength of my example. I want my daughters to see that their mother is not just working hard for their immediate needs but is also investing in her own growth and development. This pursuit of a degree is a testament to my commitment to self-improvement and my belief in the importance of lifelong learning. I hope that by observing my journey, they will be encouraged to chase their own dreams with the same fervor and determination.

Moreover, my work and academic endeavors in Dubai are a testament to the sacrifices I am willing to make for their future. Each day I spend away from them is filled with the knowledge that I am working towards a greater purpose—giving them the tools and opportunities to succeed. I want them to grow up in an environment where they understand the value of education, hard work, and the importance of pursuing one’s passions.

In essence, my decision to work abroad and pursue a degree is not just a personal ambition; it is a mission to lay a foundation for my children's future. I aspire for them to become strong, confident, and capable individuals, equipped to navigate their own paths in life. My hope is that they will see their mother’s journey not just as a sacrifice, but as a source of motivation and a blueprint for achieving their own dreams.

Through this experience, I aim to impart a crucial lesson: that no matter where life takes you, the pursuit of your goals and the dedication to personal growth can make a significant impact. My ultimate wish is for my children to be inspired by my journey and to carry forward the values of perseverance and ambition in their own lives.

LIME DOUGHNUTS

Donuts are never a miss if you have a sweet toot. Make your own handcrafted donuts at home by following this recipe.

975 g  Flour, All Purpose

1.5 g  Groceries, Yeast

20 g  Sea Salt

100 g  Refined, sugar

8 pcs  Eggs, raw

220 ml  Water

130 ml  Dairy, Full Cream Milk

900 g  Dairy, Unsalted Butter

60 ml  Groceries, Buttermilk

20 ml  Juice, Lime

1.5 g  Salt, Kosher

300 ml  Vegetable Oil

400 g  Lime

Doughnut Procedure: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, water, and milk. Whisk in the butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir with a rubber spatula until the liquid is absorbed and there are no lumps. The mixture will resemble muffin batter. It may look a little lumpy and slightly greasy but be assured that all of the butter will be absorbed by the time the dough rises. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 4 to 6 hours.

Uncover the bowl and use a rubber spatula to gently loosen the dough from the bowl. Dampen your hands with cool water and slide one hand under one side of the dough. Fold that side of the dough into the center and press it down gently so it adheres to itself. Give the bowl a quarter turn and repeat the folding process two more times. After the fourth fold, flip the dough over so the seams are on the bottom. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 8 to 12 hours, or overnight.

Uncover the bowl and repeat the folding procedure in the previous step. Put the dough onto a plastic wrap–lined baking sheet. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and pat the dough into a flattened dome. Refrigerate the dough until it is firm, at least 2 hours and up to 2 days.

Line 3 baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly dust them with flour. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and dust a countertop lightly but evenly with flour. Turn the dough out onto the floured countertop and dust it with flour. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to a 3⁄8-inch (9 mm) thickness. Use additional flour if it begins to stick. Use a 3-inch (8 cm) doughnut cutter to cut out the doughnuts and put them onto the parchment-lined pans. Separate the holes from the doughnuts so they may be fried separately. Cover the pans loosely with plastic wrap and let the doughnuts proof for 1 hour. Gently ball up the trimmings from the doughnuts, put them in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until they firm up, at least 1 hour or up to 24. These trimmings may be rerolled to make additional doughnuts.

Pour 2 inches (5 cm) of oil into a large pot and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350F (177C). Set a wire rack over a baking sheet. Put 4 to 5 doughnuts at a time in the oil and cook for 1 minute. Use a slotted spoon or spider to flip the doughnuts over and cook them for 1 minute on the other side. Flip one more time and cook for 1 minute more. The doughnuts should be golden brown. Use the slotted spoon to transfer the doughnuts from the oil to the rack to cool. Repeat to cook the remaining doughnuts. To cook the holes, put 12 into the oil at a time and cook for 45 seconds. Use the slotted spoon to turn the holes over and cook for 45 more seconds. Some of the holes may not flip, so use the slotted spoon to stir them in the oil so they cook evenly. Transfer the holes to the wire rack.

Lime Glaze Procedure: Put the confectioners’ sugar in a bowl and pour in the buttermilk, lime juice, and salt. Use a whisk to stir the mixture together until it forms a smooth glaze. Reserve at room temperature and whisk until smooth before using.

Dip one side of each doughnut into the glaze, then flip glaze side up and return to the cooling rack.

Grate the zest of 3 of the limes over the glazed doughnuts.

Once all the doughnuts are glazed, put the doughnut holes into the bowl with the glaze and grate the zest from the remaining lime into the bowl.

Use a spoon to mix the holes in the glaze and evenly coat them.

Transfer the holes to the wire rack and let the glaze harden. Serve once the glaze is firm to the touch, if you can wait that long.

5 Basic Terms That You Need To Know Before Applying For A Home Loan

September 23, 2021 0 Comments

The most common way to purchase a house in the Philippines is through a loan from lending institutions. It offers different payment terms and conditions, amounts, and duration for Pinoys that may not be able to pay the house in full upfront. While it’s a great financing option, it may result in the opposite if you finalize your plan without knowing what’s in store for you.

Before applying for a home loan, check this quick list of the basic terms that you need to know.

1. Principal

The principal is the total amount that you borrowed from the lending institution. It’s the main factor in calculating your monthly payments. Every time you repay your loan, a portion of it is dedicated to the principal. A lot of lenders deduct the principal early on in your loan, and the interest for the remaining duration of your loan term.

2. Interest Rate

Interest rate is the percentage that the lenders charge for letting you borrow their money. In public lending agencies like Pag-IBIG, the interest rate ranges between 5.750% and 9.875% depending on your terms. Private lenders such as banks charge an interest rate as low as 1.25% to 9.50% depending on the fixed term years.

3. Loan term

Tenure, also known as the loan term, refers to the duration that you and lenders have agreed upon to make loan repayments. Within the loan term, you have to pay the balance, including the principal and interest rate, in full. Depending on the lending institution, the tenure can range anywhere from 2-30 years. The longer the term, the higher the interest rate.

4. Down Payment

Most housing loans let you pay a down payment to reduce your principal amount. It’s paid upfront when you take out the loan. Some lenders may not require a down payment, especially when the principal is low. Nonetheless, most lenders allow down payments up to to 20% of the principal amount.

5. Default

For any reason that you fail to pay your monthly repayments, a default happens. When you finalize your housing loan, you’re bound by the law to pay the agreed amount within the timeframe indicated in your terms and conditions. Some lenders can be more lenient, considering several missed payments to be a default.

One of life’s necessities is having a home, but have you ever had a place you can call your own? Here in BellaVita, we will highlight to you the importance of one of our brand pillars, Sakto sa Bulsa, or in other words, affordability.

In a time of great uncertainty, a voice of knowledge and reassurance can make all the difference. "Stay home" has been the consistent mantra of the pandemic, and having a home you love where you can safely shelter in place feels more important than ever. Our mission in BellaVita, to provide a quality and affordable living experience to the Filipino people, remains true and the same especially during times like this.

Having said that, we are focused on fulfilling our mission by offering a house and lot for as low as P450,000 with a 22-square meters floor area and an average lot area of 36 square meters. It only takes Php 3,500.00 out of your wallet or bank account to reserve a unit with BellaVita. Monthly amortization for as low as Php 1,887 or just about P60 per day, cheaper than branded coffee or milk teas. Spending on your own home is a better investment, don’t you think?

BellaVita offers one of the lowest prices you'll ever see in the market. Furthermore, you can choose between Pag-IBIG or a bank to finance your dream investment.

Ways To Reduce Stress and To Entertainment Yourself At Home

May 06, 2021 0 Comments

It's been a year since the pandemic happened. The whole world was affected and advised to stay at home to prevent getting infected by the deadly virus. I am a stay-at-home mom and I thought that I can handle it. No, I was wrong. Being at home 24/7 with kids doubles the stress and gives me a lot of thinking.

Yes, I get to watch them grow and bond with them but I can't see that I was able to deliver the proper knowledge they supposedly get at school. They were so lazy when it comes to modules. But as a mom, I am doing my best. I really wanted to go back to working at the office, work from home, or doing some business to earn money while watching over my kids but it's kind of hard by now because of the pandemic and maybe I should give a lot of effort. But thanks to blogging and social media, I was able to earn some and entertain myself. It also helps to keep me sane during these trying times.

Aside from blogging or vlogging (because I am also creating videos), let's go back to the main topic, how are we going to reduce stress and how to entertain ourselves at home?

First, get a good book and read it.
Believe me, it works very well! A good book can energize you, fuel you with positive thoughts and keep you stay on track with what you're doing. It can encourage the kids to read books, too. I always told them to love books because they can get a lot of learning.

Second, Experiment with a new recipe or learn to cook and bake with your kids or other members of the family. It's a great bonding moment that you will cook or bake the food you want to eat. Have fun in the kitchen.

Third, it's time to do a Deep Cleaning of the house. Deep cleaning is a more intensive procedure that cleans such areas like the living room and study, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, balcony, garden, and corners of the house that you would never have imagined require that thorough scrubbing. That way, your mind, and body are busy. No negative thoughts but only the things that you want to get done for your home. You may ask your family to help and finish the household chores.

Fourth, Do-it-yourself Renovation, If ever you have the budget, you may think of changing the color of the walls and some furniture at home. For some, when renovating, it's time to declutter also. Give some items away, donate clothes you never wear and just keep those important and you need.

Lastly, Play. You are never too old to play. Play like kids. Play with them. Be it online or physical activities - jumping rope, jackstone, hide and seek, block and catch, badminton, basketball, etc.

It is always up to a parent how much time they allow their children to spend playing online games. It is good to balance their game time with other activities, but playing online games does have its benefits too.

Playing Online Games can actually help kids advance in the real world. If you are looking to find games for you and your kids to play online, try the new website play free online games.
Plays.org is an online site that offers lots of games, from old-school to modern games.

You may explore their entire game catalog. Lots of categories to try and play. I miss the snake game so I tried the modern version.

Neon Snake Coin Eating Game.
This is a modern remake of the classic game snake. Players can choose between three different difficulty modes.
  • Collect coins while avoiding running into yourself.
  • As you eat coins your snake grows longer.
  • The playing field on this game wraps.
How to Play
Use the direction keys on your mouse to move your snake to eat coins without running into itself.

Game Controls
  • Use a touchscreen or the direction keys on your keyboard to control your snake.
  • This game has no pause, so if your snake is longer than the playing field is wide you will be in a bit of trouble.

Levels
  • This game does not have set levels but has three different difficulty modes: easy, normal, and hard.
  • On easier difficulty modes your snake moves slower and only slowly adds to its length as it eats coins. On hard mode, the snake moves much faster and grows 3 units in length for each coin it eats.
  • If you have never played snake before you might want to try playing on easy.
  • If you have played before and were ok at it you might want to try medium.
  • If you were great at the game try-hard mode.
Strategy
  • This game does not have walls or edges but instead wraps.
  • The game is wider than it is tall, so as you grow longer it can make sense to approach things from the side rather than from above or below.
  • Making sharp turns is risky, so ideally you can turn in advance and align your snake at least a few blocks before getting to the coin.
  • If your snake is on hard mode and the snake is quite long you can go back and forth moving a line or two up or down on the opposing side of the screen to use up much of your length to give yourself more flexibility when approaching the coin.

This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android-powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and other modern web browsers.

These are ways to reduce stress but I think there's so much more to do. You may take a moment each day to write the things you are grateful for, get crafty, walk and run, play board games, meditate and yoga and even chat online or offline with your loved ones.

According to research, people who take the time to count their blessings have lower levels of stress and sleep better, and we could probably all use that right now. Let's all be positive and this too shall pass.

When we say furniture and decors, people would normally think of it found indoors. But nowadays, home designing includes outdoors and it's kind of in demand. Those who love to stay outdoor for sightseeing with beautiful scenery, family gatherings or just enjoying the day swimming outdoor, may put little value on this furniture that may be as useful as those we used inside our homes. Below are 3 reasons why you need this kind of furniture.

1. Spending time outdoors is fun. There are a lot of activities to do outdoors with your family and friends such as swimming, playing games, and picnic. Spending time with them is a great bonding moment and having good outdoor furniture could provide you the comfort that you need while you rest. There are different types to choose from and could be ideal whether you are putting it in your patio, or any place that serves as an outdoor living area. 2. Adding design to your house.
The first thing that visitors see is the outside of your house. Adding some furniture and decors will give them a good vibe and gives your house a good look as soon as they arrive at your home.
As long as you are creative enough, you can even use simple sectional outdoor furniture to add more design to the overall appearance of your house.

3. Useful. Outdoor furniture could be very useful if you want to hold special occasions or events outdoors. Whether you are having a picnic or a pool party, having furniture is important especially if you have a lot of guests to accommodate. No need to rent some.

February 13, 2021 0 Comments
What is your dream place to live? I would like to share with you guys that I dreamed of living or experience the life in New York City.

New York City in New York is the largest city in the United States. As of 2019, its population was estimated as 8,336, 817. New York, nicknamed the "Big Apple" and the "City That Never Sleeps" is a reknown center of business and finance, entertainment, media and culture, home to many famous buildings, as well as containing the headquarters of the United Nations.

Apparently, there's a lot of opportunity to grab and grow. To live there you must consider a lot of things like: rent, location, size, consider a month-to-month rental, get rid of 75% of your belongings and it's really expensive but you can still enjoy the beaches. You don't need to own a car because people walks very fast.

Here are the five things to consider when looking for an apartment:
1. Determine how much you are willing to pay for the rent. You will consider how much you earn. Some landlord or agents will asked for proof of income if you can pay for the monthly. Start saving now, it's for the better.
2. Get help with online apartment search sites. There are so many sites to look for renting places. You may start at Zumper, it's one of the many reliable sites to browse beautiful and affordable places to live in.
3. Look at an apartment after office hours and during weekends. This will give you the feel of how noisy or how comfortable the neighbourhood is.
4. Check the grounds and the location, even the trash bins, where are they placed? How clean and tidy is the place. If you can't stand the smell and sight in the first few seconds, don't even bother thinking about renting the place, even if the budget is right.

5. Check the local utilities about the average payments and costs made by the other apartments. This would give you an idea on the condition of the gas input and the electric consumption. Check also the insurance of the property and how often the rent increases and what percentage so that you know all the details before moving in.

We will also talk about the rent market research in New York City. If you don't have enough money to buy your own house, renting an apartment is the best option.
