How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks, Scars, Dark Circles and More!

August 08, 2015 0 Comments

I am Mother of two and I can say that being pregnant and giving birth is one of the most rewarding experience that a woman should be experienced. Stretch marks, scars and dark circles are often associated pregnancy. Those are the indications of being a mommy. Ill-favored and it's disgusting.

Stretch marks occur when your body grows faster than your skin, stretching the elastic fibers under the surface of the skin until they break.

Scars appear after the wounds of surgery or we called caesarian section, other methods of giving birth.

Dark circles will show when your little is born, late-night feedings and diaper changes are part of it.

Drypers Wee Wee Dry Diaper Photo Contest - I won!

August 04, 2015 0 Comments
Last father's day have been a busy month for me. I have joined a lot of contests in different Facebook pages. Too many to mention. It was all about our loving Father, husband, uncles, brothers and friends. They were asking about why your father is the best, why your father is a hero, share a photo with your father and caption it, etc. I posted my entries and some of them have the same captions, explanations or messages for my father.  I joined not only for my father but also for my husband.
Many pages conducting a contest to give thanks to consumers or followers and I am one of the many people trying luck to get the prize.
Praying for this opportunities can really help. I just prayed that God please, any prize will be highly appreciated and its fine with me even I only get one. So be it. I know I did my best, but my best wasn't good enough because I compete with so many smart people, and those people deserve the better prizes.

Luckily, among the many entries of different pages, I got one. That one was from Drypers Wee Wee Dry. It was a cute photo contest of a Father and child plus a caption with the hashtag #DrypersDad.

Here's my entry:

"Thank you daddy for being such a responsible, selfless and loving father to our kids. You are proving your love by working hard but at the same time playing, cuddling, talking or teaching the things that our kids really love. You are so cool to the point that you are making fun moments (like these photo) with the kids. Happy Father's Day my loving husband. You are the greatest dad they could ever ask for. We love you!♥♥

Here's the announcement:

This winning was timely. We were in the state of a low budget because my husband resigned in his present employer and still searching for a new one. So we need to lessen our expenses until things gonna be alright. But right now, he is now employed and turning two months.

The admin of Drypers contacted me via facebook message on how to claim the prize. I should pick-up the prize to their office. I replied telling them if it's okay to please deliver  my prize because I am not into traveling to Manila. I can't go alone, I don't know how to get there and I am in lack of budget.
At first, they asked me that if it is okay with me to meet the sales representative in Malolos, it was near our place, one ride in a jeepney for 20-30mins. Much better than going to Manila. So, I said yes.
But the admin texted me that the representative wasn't able to deliver the prize for some reason and sorry for the delay. He even said I will ask the boss if I can go out and I will personally deliver your prize. Wow! That person was kind and understanding. He must be very blessed.

It took almost one and a half months and finally the diapers arrived last July 29, 2015 at around 2-3 in the afternoon. He was riding a car alone. Very approachable, smiling and he said sorry again for the delay. I was so ashamed for not offering something to drink or snacks but I am sure he understood. After asking for an identification, signature and a proof of delivery which was taking a photo of me plus the box of diapers, he left immediately. It was a big Blessing that I encountered such kind people who will sacrifice to travel a long ride just to deliver my prize. Thanks God for that.
See my kids with the diapers:
They were happy and I am, too. It was really helpful it will lessen our spendings.

Follow Drypers and stay tuned for their contests.

THANK YOU SO MUCH LORD!

Minions Movie Date

July 25, 2015 0 Comments
Last Sunday, my mother-in-law treated us for a movie date. We watched minions since we have kids who requested for it and thinks that they will enjoy it. My kids loves to sing the Banana Song.
It was the second time my baby watched a movie in big screen. Her first time was when we watched "The Breakup Playlist" starring Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo because we can't leave her alone at home so we asked if the baby can go inside the movie house. She can watch also but with pay, too. Same payment with the adults.
I knew it, she didn't stay sitted. She roamed around, walking, eating snacks, up and down the stairs. But this time, I was happy knowing that my kids were enjoying the movie. They remained sitted at their chair, eating popcorn and all eyes at the screen.
This photo was taken after the movie at Robinsons Place Malolos.

What can I say about the movie? Well, I can say that it was fun and entertaining. I love it and I feel young watching this 3D animated family comedy film. This small, yellow pill-shaped creatures was eye catching, so cute and adorable. They were weird looking but they acted like people, with good heart and they can serve well.
The movie was all about searching for their new cruel Master who they will serve with. They find great masters like a caveman, dracula and T. Rex but they accidentally kill nearly all of them. They decided to start a new life but lack of a master drives them into depression.
Kevin, Bob and Stuart volunteered to find a villainous one. They travel to the city and the journey begins.

I won't be giving a lot of details so that you'll find out all when you watch the movie. I tell you, this movie is great. It is still showing at the cinemas.

My Queen asked for a minion toy after the movie. We found a rubber, noisy and lightning eye minions in a stall inside the mall. I bought one for Queen and mommy bought one for baby Aqui. It should be two to avoid them fighting over the toy. They surely wants to play with it so we need to buy them both.

Best Way to Teach Kids to Read

July 11, 2015 0 Comments

Best Way to Teach Kids to Read
What's the best way to teach children to read? According to the National Reading Panel, "teaching children to manipulate phonemes in words was highly effective under a variety of teaching conditions with a variety of learners across a range of grade and age levels and that teaching phonemic awareness to children significantly improves their reading more than instruction that lacks any attention to Phonemic Awareness.[1] This is a statement made by the National Reading Panel (NRP) in their report titled "TEACHING CHILDREN TO READ: An Evidence-Based Assessment of the Scientific Research Literature on Reading and Its Implications for Reading Instruction."

Phonemic Awareness instruction was selected for review by the NRP in their report because studies have identified phonemic awareness and letter knowledge as two of the best predictors of how well children will learn to read in their first 2 years of entering school. There is strong Scientific evidence to suggest that phonemic awareness instructions are an important part in helping children develop reading skills.

One study discussed the presence of phonemic awareness in Austrian children aged 6 to 7 that were unable to read when first entering school. This study found that many children had not one correct response in their test of a simple vowel substitution task. However, a few children who exhibited high phonemic awareness scored close to perfect on this same task. The study further stated that "there was a specific predictive relationship between initial phonemic awareness differences and success in learning to read and to spell." Even more importantly, the study indicated that it was phonemic awareness abilities, and not IQ, that predicted the accuracy of reading and spelling at the end of grade one. Children with high phonemic awareness at the beginning of grade one had high reading and spelling achievements at the end of grade one, compared to some children with low phonemic awareness who had difficulties learning to read and spell. [2]

In the National Reading Panel report, they also determined that the beneficial effects of phonemic awareness on reading lasts well beyond the period of training. While phonemic awareness instructions are proven to significantly help children learn reading, it is not a complete reading program. What it does, is provide children with a foundational knowledge base of the alphabet language. The NRP analysis also showed that phonics instructions produces significant benefits for students from kindergarten through grade 6, and is also helpful for children with learning to read difficulties.

Children who are taught with phonics and phonemic awareness instructions are consistently able to decode, read, and spell, and even demonstrated significant improvement in their ability to comprehend text. Even older children who receive these similar teachings improved their ability to decode and spell. The NRP made a key statement saying that "conventional wisdom has suggested that kindergarten students might not be ready for phonics instruction, this assumption was not supported by the data. The effects of systematic early phonics instruction were significant and substantial in kindergarten and the 1st grade, indicating that systematic phonics programs should be implemented at those age and grade levels."

However, I would like to further expand on that by saying that children as young as two years old can learn to read through phonics and phonemic awareness instructions. If a young child can speak, then they should be able to learn to read, even if they are as young as two years old. In fact, I have proven this with my own children. We started teaching our daughter at 2 years and 8months, and she was very capable at reading by the time she was just 2 years and 11 months old.
